Now that I have the dark basement laboratory I’ve always wanted, it’s time to start designing the space for my ideative process. Looking forward to collaborating with AJ this weekend to build my dream white(black)board for all of my ideas and schematics.

Here’s how I’m envisioning it:

1) Buy 3-5 plexiglass panels roughly 6’w x 4’h.
2) Cover one side of each sheet of plexiglass with black photographic paper.
3) Mount the sheets on the walls to the left of, and behind my seat so that they are vertically aligned to the middle of the wall in the ideal writing range. I don’t want to have to squat to write. These boards are for sixfoot people.
4) Use florescent dry erase or some kind of erasable paint stick markers.

The desired result is very similar to what they did here, but I’ll be using black where they used white. In particular, I do like the mounts they used, a lot. The nice thing about my implementation is that my lab is so dark, there won’t be any real reflection or glare issues to deal with.
