Since I typically remove the optical drive from my laptops (i.e., Macbook Pro’s) and swap them for a larger hard disk, I wind up using an external DVD drive whenever I need to read a DVD. Last time they were on sale, I snagged a cheap Samsung Blue-Ray/DVD combo drive for like $35; I couldn’t pass it up.
I was about to throw the Samsung drive away as I kept getting this error:
But after testing the drive in Jackie’s MacBook Air and confirming that it was still good, I knew there had to be a misconfiguration somewhere. Dr. Macenstein had just the ticket. A quick find and replace had me “watching” Ali for that Bundini scene in no time.
Incidentally, apparently SSD prices have really come down. This 1 TB SATA III SSD sounds nasty and really makes me question my whole SSD/HD setup altogether. Lust.
