I’ve been around the blogging block. I know the neighborhood pretty well–or at least how it was built. See, ‘posting’ since ‘96 has toured me through some of the technology that drives and supports this hobby. It’s been it’s own little fascination.
Scripts like Newspro, Coranto, b2 and Textpattern (I remember only the frustration, not the names of a few others) are the programs that store content on a web server and then deliver it to the user in an organized format.
I’ve also had a few dozen distinct ‘layouts,’ which I’m sure you’ve noticed. Because I am the one that sees my page the most I get bored of how it looks and obsess over the format and the manipulating the most obscure details of its presentation.
Unfortunately, I’ve been doing more managing of the scripts and design than generating content Instead of writing I spend my time under the hood of the site, hiding and procrastinating. It has left my writing immature and the goal of improving it unfulfilled.
So here’s a new layout (heh), a cookie-cutter theme packaged with the freshest version of WordPress available. I found in WordPress an unabashed blogging script instead of the touted content management system (CMS) that is Textpattern. I don’t need all of that. What I need is to write. Afterall, I’m a just a blogger not a designer or developer; enough pretending.
Incidentally, if you’d like a blog for yourself I can get you started in a click.
